Tony runs a small business. He and Julie also have two small children. They are active, young and healthy. Their budget for health coverage, both for the business and their family, is very tight. So, they found that a High Deductible Health Plan, along with a Health Savings Account (HSA), would provide both their employees and their family with the coverage they need, within budget. Since they are healthy and utilize limited health care services, they can use their HSA to pay copays and will also save money on the plan's lower premiums. But, if a major accident should happen, the HSA will help cover their deductible, and the plan will limit the maximum they'll pay out of pocket.
Plus - Tony secured a $1,200 HSA account from First Horizon Msaver for each employee to help cover added out-of-pocket expenses. Employees may also contribute up to $1,200 to the HSA on their own through payroll deduction (total contributions cannot exceed deductible amount by law).
Tony and Julie use the Find A Doctor tool to search for doctors, hospitals and other health care professionals by either their plan's Blue Network (P, S, C or K), physician specialization, location or other criteria. When traveling with his child's sports teams, Tony can look up the best provider in any particular area of Tennessee.
In the Consumer Health Tools section of this site, there is special HSA Information and Links to help Tony and Julie learn more about the specifics of managing the financial arrangement associated with their High Deductible Health Plan. Understanding the details of the regulations and tips on contributing to, and using, an HSA are available, along with direct links to our affiliated financial partners - where you can learn even more.
Finally, just by flashing their I.D. card, BlueCross members can receive discounts of up to 30 percent on non-covered services like cosmetic surgery, vitamins, personal trainers and more through BluePerks. One of Tony's employees used BluePerks to get a discount on LASIK corrective vision surgery.
